Dragging a Dragon- Book 1, Part 12
Sorry for the sudden disappearance. Thought I could write through the holidays, but that turned about to be a firm negative. But I'm back! Time to get to work. Huzzah!!! Enjoy.
The tension in the room is palpable. The armored magi in the center steps forward. Feminine in build, she locks eyes with Professor Cortez. With his dampening glasses off, he stares at her directly in the eyes. I slowly draw my wand, not knowing what is going to happen. I’m not skilled enough to go toe-to-toe with the average magi, but I will not just stand by. Even if I just shove my wand up their nose, I’m gonna do something.
“You’re not going to win this,” Professor Cortez exclaims.
For another eight seconds, they stare at each other. You can see stress lines begin to form around her eyes, but unblinkingly, she does not break contact with the Professor.
“I’ve trained for this for a long time. Today is the day,” she retorts.
The Professor chuckled. “It is futile.”
